We regret to announce the ending of the magazine. Some of the reasons behind this were mentioned in recent editorials, however there is also the factor that after 5,000 pages of articles the number of interesting locations left to write about had begun to shrink. Many locations (including most closed stations) have also been covered in detail in Jim Connor’s Disused Stations books, and in Peter Kay’s London’s Railway Heritage and The London Tilbury & Southend Railway series. The magazine could not cover the largest locations for space reasons, and at the other end of the scale many suburban stations, especially those opened post-1920, have rather simple histories.
